Our story!

The Legends was founded in 2015 by a few locals from Bruges with a passion for their city. Since then, we have become the number one free tour operator in Bruges, Ghent, Brussels and Antwerp with a network of passionate local guides in each city. Our team of volunteers lead our popular day and evening walks daily in different languages on a tip-basis, which means you are free to give the guide whatever you want and ensures that everyone can enjoy a quality tour, regardless of budget. You can also book Legends for a private tour or team building, or join us for fun organised activities such as chocolate demonstrations, brewery visits or tasting tours. 

The aim of our organisation, which now has more than 75 volunteer guides in Bruges, Brussels, Ghent and Antwerp, is to provide a stage for enthusiastic storytellers who love their city and to improve resident-visitor contact. We also want to support local trade by partnering with artisan shops selling handmade and sustainable products. For this purpose, we have created the app Beyond Bruges, which allows users to request information on historic sights in Bruges and imagine themselves back in the Middle Ages using 3D models and augmented reality. When using our app, you can earn credits for every purchase you make at local, sustainable businesses. Those credits, called Bryghia, can then be spent to unlock information, 3D models, a quiz game and other features within the app, as well as to make certain purchases, such as a box of chocolates or a beer in some of Bruges' bars. More than 30 businesses are already taking part in this concept and the aim is to use this application to encourage the development of a full-fledged, Bruges city currency.
